Guatemala Highlights
Day 1: Arrival...
After your arrival in Guatemala City, you will transfer to Antigua and check-in to your hotel. You will have the evening at leisure to explore this charming city. Established by Spanish Conquistadors in 1524, Antigua was Guatemala's capital for over two centuries. Antigua enchants visitors with its narrow cobblestone streets, tree-shaded parks, and old colonial architecture. Overnight in Antigua.
Day 2: Guatemala/Chichicastenango...
This morning one of our comfortable buses will take you to Chichicastenango. Here we will visit the most famous market of Guatemala. Traditionally dressed Mayans offer their products to locals and tourists alike. After the excitement of the market we visit the Church of Santo Tomas, where people burn incense on the stairs and, inside, light candles to the saints and the lords of all natural forces .
Day 3: Chichicastenango/Atitlan...
On day 3 we head for a senic drive to Lake Atitlan. Three volcanoes - San Pedro, Toliman and Atitlan - tower over the southern shore creating a dramatic backdrop for the area's spectacular scenery. Lake Atitlan is considered to be one of the most beautiful lakes in the world. We will enjoy a boat tour on the lake to visit the traditional village of Santiago de Atitlan.
Day 4: Lake Atitlan/Antigua...
Today we drive through the Western Highlands on our way to Antigua. For many years, the Colonial City of Antigua was regarded as one of the major centers of Spanish power in the Americas along with Lima and Mexico City. We will visit examples of the city's fine Spanish architecture against the backdrop of mountains and volcanoes.
Day 5: Antigua/ Guatemala City...
You will have a free morning in Antigua to explore the cobblestone streets on your own before we drive back to Guatemala City in the afternoon. Try one of the city's excellent restaurants in the evening.
Day 6: Tikal Excursion...
Fly into the heart of the Guatemalan jungle to the Maya monuments and pyramids of Tikal. In this remote area, one of the greatest civilizations of its time built a city that lasted for centuries. The site of Tikal is in a national park where the native flora and fauna still flourish relatively undisturbed. Hundreds of species of birds, including toucans and macaws, can easily be seen, as can spider and howler monkeys as they glide through the dense vegetation. After lunch at the ruins, fly back to Guatemala City.
Day 7: Depart Guatemala City...
After breakfast you will be transferred to Guatemala City Airport for your flight home. End of our services.
